file transfer protocol
   (FTP)
   Protocol for sending and receiving files stored on remote servers. FTP allows file transfer from an IP host to an IP client without requiring the client to mount the host's file system.

   Protocol for sending and receiving files stored on remote servers. The common type is anonymous FTP, which allows users to login to a remote computer on the Internet and access public file areas available on most FTP sites.
